Gabrielle Tabares Fagundez is a postdoctoral researcher in the postgraduate program in law at the Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC), Brazil. Her research project “Human Rights, Climate Emergency, and Health: The Framework of Socioenvironmental Injustice that Perpetuates Inequality and the Fight Against Socioenvironmental Rights Violations” explores the intersections between human rights, climate change, and socioenvironmental justice.
Gabrielle holds a PhD in law from UFSC and has extensive international research experience. As part of the Brazilian government-funded Institutional Program for Internationalization (PrInt), she conducted research at the University of Coimbra, Portugal. Gabrielle is a researcher at the Environmental Justice Observatory (Observatório de Justiça Ecológica, OJE) and collaborates with the Ecological Justice Clinic (Clínica de Justiça Ecológica), an extension project that engages UFSC law students and faculty in socioenvironmental legal issues. She is also a member of the Speak4Nature consortium, which focuses on interdisciplinary approaches to ecological justice. Her research areas include environmental law, human rights, animal law, and international law.
