Markos Panayiotou, BA, MA

Doctoral candidate

Markos Panayiotou completed their BA in social and cultural anthropology at the University of Heidelberg and their MA in social and cultural anthropology at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität Munich (LMU), during which they also took part in the Environmental Studies Certificate Program at the Rachel Carson Center. For their Ph.D. research, they will be participating in the Reinhart Koselleck Project 'Planetary Healing as Transformative Process' under the supervision of Professor Eveline Dürr. During this time, they plan to conduct research in the Ecuadorian Oriente and closely collaborate with Kichwa-speaking healers in the Province of Napo. Parallel to a critical examination of universalist 'One-World' approaches to health, such as One Health and Planetary Health, they are interested in tracing the entanglements of healing practices with land relations and more-than-human entities.
