Karla Garcia is an interdisciplinary scholar specializing in environmental issues. She holds a BA in anthropology from the Catholic University of Ecuador and two MA degrees: one in Interamerican studies and another in history and philosophy of science from the University of Bielefeld. Her master's dissertation analyzed court cases related to the Rights of Nature (RoN) in Ecuador, exploring conceptual understandings of 'nature' and its representation in legal trials. Her current research builds on this work, examining the social dynamics that support and facilitate the development of the RoN in Ecuador, with a focus on decolonial epistemologies.
