Franziska Bax is a second-year student in the Masters of Arts in Environment & Society at the Rachel Carson Center. She joined the program to gain a nuanced understanding on the workings of (cultural) narratives and power dynamics at the intersection of human-nature relations and coloniality.

In her MA project, she will research the political, social, and environmental tensions in farming communities undergoing processes of peatland rewetting with a focus on emotions, lived experience, and local stories.

Since April 2024 she works as a student assistant in the Team "Environmental Humanities Development," and recently curated the exhibition "Taumelnd trauen, verschlungen bleiben#mce_temp_url#."

Being previously trained as an artistic researcher (MA from the Design Academy Eindhoven, BA at KISD Köln, ENSCI Les Ateliers Paris and Konstfack Stockholm), she is particularly interested in the potential of artistic methods for academic research.
