Excursion to Berchtesgaden National Park

As part of a seminar on national parks in Bavaria, Christof Mauch will lead an excursion of RCC fellows, doctoral students, experts in Bavarian history from LMU's history department to the Nationalpark Berchtesgaden. There they will meet with a number of experts, including the Managing Director of the Wittelsbach Castle in Berchtesgaden, Roland Baier, with whom they will have a discussion on EU regulatoins, Bavarian and federal politics, the issue of wilderness preservation vs. cultural landscape preservation.

The group will also have an opportunity to hike through the beautiful landscape and take an ecological tour of the park with park rangers, and learn firsthand about the topic of the use and protection of the forest.
