Patrick Kupper's main fields of interest are the history of environment, technology, and knowledge in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. He studied history and environmental sciences at the University of Zurich and at Humboldt University Berlin, and received his PhD from the University of Zurich in 2003. Since 2005 he has been a senior research associate at the Institute of History, ETH Zurich. He has published on the history of environmentalism, nuclear energy, science and technology, and conservation. He is the author of Atomenergie und gespaltene Gesellschaft: Die Geschichte des gescheiterten Projektes Kernkraftwerk Kaiseraugst (2003) and the co-author of Die Zukunftsmaschine: Konjunkturen der ETH Zürich 1855-2005 (2005). One of his recent articles is entitled "Science and the National Parks: A Transatlantic Perspective on the Interwar Years" (Environmental History, January 2009).
