Dr. Josh Berson

Alumni Carson Fellow

Josh Berson is an anthropologist and historian, whose work concerns the role of social and cognitive science in shaping our understanding of what it means to be human. His approach combines cognitive anthropology and science and technology studies. His first book, Transcribing Country: Language Documentation and the Pragmatics of Property, is under revision. At the Rachel Carson Center for Environment and Society, he is starting a new project that aspires to a deep history of animal–human relations coupled with a history of the science of behavioral ecology.
