Christian Kehrt studied history and philosophy at the universities of Tübingen and Stony Brook, NY. In his dissertation, which he completed as a member of the postgraduate college “Technology and Society” at Darmstadt Technical University, he explored the experiences of German military pilots during the two world wars from an expressly scientific and technical historical perspective. As a postdoctoral researcher at the Deutsches Museum, Kehrt worked on the historical dimension of nanoscience, using Munich as a case study. His research centered on semiconductor physics and biophysics over the last three decades. His research interests lie in the cultural history of science, technology and environment, encompassing interdisciplinary questions and current debates.
During his time at the Center, Kehrt worked on a habilitation project on polar research during the Cold War.
