MCMP meets RCC: Values in Climate and Environmental Sciences

10.02.2024 11:00  – 15:00

Location: room 021, ground floor, Ludwigstraße 31, 80539 Munich

Conveners: Floris Winckel, Alice Murphy (alice.murphy@lmu.de)

Join us a couple minutes down the road for a Rachel Carson Center x Munich Center for Mathematical Philosophy (MCMP) crossover event!

Our colleagues on the other side of the Siegestor are hosting a half-day workshop-style event to allow members from both institutions to get to know each other and their research interests a little better. The event will consist of four 45-minute sessions. Each consists of two informal talks by someone from the RCC and someone from the MCMP on a topic of their interest related to the overall theme of “Values in Climate and Environmental Sciences,” followed by a group discussion/Q&A. The concept behind pairing up the speakers is to encourage us to find connections and common points of interest between the speakers and institutions as a whole. Speakers may choose to give a short paper, but have the freedom to use their 10–15 minutes to be as creative, provocative, speculative, or brief as they like. We would love to see many of you there to support the speakers, take part in the discussions, and meet new colleagues (and potential collaborators) from down the road!

The workshop/session structure is there to give people an idea of what the topics will be, but otherwise it'll be a very relaxed event. Feel free to bring your own lunch, but there'll be some tea/coffee and snacks for people to enjoy as well.

For more information, as well as the line-up of speakers, see their eventpage. Please reach out to either Floris Winckel (floris.winckel@rcc.lmu.de) or Alice (alice.murphy@lmu.de) if you have questions.
