Tuesday Discussion with Amelia Fiske (TUM)

10.01.2023 16:30  – 17:45

Location: Rachel Carson Center, Conference Room (4th floor), Leopoldstr. 11a, 80802 Munich, Germany

This Tuesday, Dr. Amelia Fiske, a cultural anthropologist and senior researcher in bioethics at Technical University of Munich (TUM), will introduce her graphic novel project called “Toxic,” which she developed during her time as a visiting scholar at the RCC in 2017–18. The project, in cooperation with artist Jonas Fischer from Kiel, is based on Fiske’s research in Ecuador on toxic tours of places contaminated by oil operations. An excerpt recently appeared in Strapazin, a German-language comic magazine. The graphic novel will be published by the University of Toronto Press next summer.

The Tuesday Discussions are free and open to the public. This Tuesday Discussion is hosted in cooperation with the Munich Science Communication Lab (MSCL).
