Tuesday Discussion with Dorit Lehrack (Environmental activism in China)

This Tuesday, Dr. Dorit Lehrack, an expert on Chinese environments, will join us for our Tuesday Discussion. Dr. Lehrack is one of the founders of the Independent Institute for Environmental Issues (UfU) in Berlin, the first independent environmental research NGO in the former East Germany. From 1990 to 1996, Lehrack worked as the director of the first branch office of Greenpeace Germany in Berlin and she was the founder of Greenpeace offices in Moscow, Kiev, Prague, and Bratislava with Greenpeace International. From 1996 to 1999, Lehrack was the political director of Friends of the Earth Germany (BUND). After that, she moved to China as a senior advisor to the China Association for NGO Cooperation (CANGO), where she focused on capacity building for Chinese grassroot NGOs. Among many honors and awards, Dorit Lehrack received the Friendship Award for international experts from the Chinese Government in 2006.
