Tuesday Discussion with Alexander Schulan and Jan-Christoph Heilinger (Adaptation Finance and Climate Injustice)

11.01.2022 16:15  – 17:15

This week's Tuesday Discussion will be with Dr. Alexander Schulan (Kiel University) and Dr. Jan-Christoph Heilinger (RWTH Aachen University) who will introduce us to their joint project on adaptation finance and climate injustice. Adaptation finance is provided by countries of the Global North to help vulnerable low-income countries to cope with climate change. Some countries in the Global South are particularly exposed to the impacts of climate change. Alexander Schulan and Jan-Christoph Heilinger identified three major injustices that arise in the context of adaptation finance. One would be the need for adaptation measures despite uneven contribution to climate risks. The talk offers a diagnosis and normative analysis of the identified injustices of adaptation finance and outlines measures to address them.

This week's discussion will be held online! To join the zoom discussion, please use this link.

There will be the opportunity for those interested to engage in a zoom discussion with the speaker after the talk.
