The arrival of the varroa mite towards the end of the twentieth century triggered a crisis in European apiculture and bee research that lasts to this day. EINE FRAGE DER HALTUNG offers unique insights into the contradictory living environments of humans and honeybees, who mutually try to live with or sustainably solve the varroa crisis. From Switzerland to Bashkiria, from garage laboratories to the deepest European forests, it becomes evident that the status of the honeybee as livestock, pet or wild animal must negotiated anew.

A discussion with Felix Remter (director / Technical University Munich) and Miriam Remter (director / LMU Munich) will follow the screening.

The original version of the film will be shown with German subtitles. The discussion will be held in German.

Free and open to the public.
