Location: Renmin University, Beijing, China
Sponsors: Center for Ecological History and School of History, Renmin University; International Office and China Academic Network, LMU Munich; Rachel Carson Center
This international conference was organized in honor of the work of environmental historian Donald Worster (University of Kansas and Renmin University of China). More than two dozen environmental historians from all over the world, including many of Worster's former students, gathered to thank him for his stimulating example and reflect on the impact of his writing and teaching on their work.
The conference included a keynote by Christof Mauch, a presentation outlining Worster's life and work, and sessions exploring current directions in environmental history research.
