Mesa sobre historia de la conservación (History of Latin American Conservation)

Special Panel at VI Symposium of the Latin American Society for Environmental History, SOLCHA

Location: Bogota, Colombia

The RCC is joining efforts with the Instituto de Investigación de Recursos Biológicos Alexander von Humboldt of Colombia to finance a three-session panel on the history of conservation in Latin America for the VI Symposium of the Latin American Society for Environmental History, SOLCHA. The first two sessions of the panel will include presentations by scholars from Colombia, the US, and Brazil, including Carson Fellow Claudia Leal. RCC Director Christof Mauch will chair these sessions, and Wilko Graf von Hardenberg, Acting Director of the RCC’s Environment & Society Portal, will comment. The panel also includes a session entitled “Lived Experiences” consisting of a conversation with five people that have been involved in the Colombian park system. Stefania Gallini, Alumna Carson Fellow, will chair this session. Furthermore, Research Associate Felix Mauch will be giving a presentation on the Environment & Society Portal. And finally, Jane Carruthers, Chair of the Advisory Board, will be giving the keynote address.
