This Tuesday, Jana Hartwig (Midwives for Future) will join us for the Tuesday Discussion with a talk on “Climate Protection in the Reproductive Phase of Life: The Potential of Midwifery Care.” Families in Germany have the right to receive at-home care from midwives from the beginning of their pregnancy until the end of breastfeeding. The close relationship between expectant mother and midwife can result in positive behavioral changes, promote improved health, in addition to protecting planetary boundaries. The talk offers a view into the German health system which amounts to 5% of the country’s total CO² emissions.
