Growing Your Understanding of Degrowth: A Workshop with Anitra Nelson

An RCC Degrowth Group Workshop

06.06.2025 16:00  – 17:30

Guest: Anitra Nelson

Location:  conference room, fourth floor, RCC

Join us for an interactive session with activist scholar Anitra Nelson, designed for those wanting to understand—or know more about—degrowth and its expansion as an academic field and movement. Anitra will share insights from the Routledge Handbook of Degrowth, which she has co-edited with Vincent Liegey. The workshop is designed to examine our own conceptions of degrowth and, based on insights from the book, develop a deeper understanding of its contemporary relevance for the environmental humanities and beyond.

Anitra Nelson is an activist scholar and Honorary Principal Fellow at the Informal Urbanism Research Hub (InfUr-), University of Melbourne, Australia. Among numerous degrowth publications, she is co-editor of Housing for Degrowth: Principles, Models, Challenges and Opportunities (2018) and Food for Degrowth: Perspectives and Practices (2021) collections, and co-author of Exploring Degrowth: A Critical Guide (2020). For more information about her work, visit her personal website.

Participation is free but spots are limited. To register, email Sevgi Mutlu Sirakova at ucfamut@ucl.ac.uk.

This event is organised by the RCC degrowth network.
