What are mountains to us? Adventure playground, amphitheater, business model, or home? Every year, more and more people head toward hostile terrains more than 3000 meters above sea level. Ski slopes are expanding, glaciers are retreating. While the high mountains are becoming ever more accessible, rock is literally crumbling underneath our hiking boots. Will a critical rethinking come in time? Scientists, ski-lift operators, philosophers, artists, and mountaineers contemplate what the future of the Alpine region will look like. One thing is certain: The mountains would be doing just fine without humans.
A discussion with Friederike Kaiser (German Alpine Club) will follow the screening. She will further be introducing us to the exhibition "Zukunft Alpen. Die Klimaerwärmung" currently displayed at the Alpines Museum.
The original version of the film will be shown with German subtitles. The discussion will be held in German.
Free and open to the public.
