A Landscape of War

A Decolonial Practices Group Book Talk & Collective Poetry Reading

17.01.2025 at 18:00

Location: conference room, fourth floor, Rachel Carson Center for Environment and Society, Leopoldstr. 11a, 80802 Munich

Organizers: Decolonial Practices Group

The Decolonial Practices Group warmly invites you to a book talk and discussion of A Landscape of War: Ecologies of Resistance and Survival in South Lebanon with anthropologist and author Munira Khayyat. Based on long-term fieldwork in the frontline villages of Lebanon’s southern border, the book engages with lifeworlds grappling with the lethal conditions of perennial war.

The talk will be followed by a collective poetry reading. Attendees are invited to bring verses/poems which inspire forms of resistance, in any language, to read out aloud.

This is the first of a two-part event focused on Lebanon. The second part will take place on 24 January 2025, with a screening of We Are All for the Homeland (directed by Maroun Bagdadi), followed by a discussion with Masato Tanaka.
