This Tuesday, Volkswagen Foundation Visiting Professor Alison Pouliot will join us for the Tuesday Discussion and introduce her research with fungi in the context of land restoration. Alison will discuss her work in the field with conservation groups, land managers and rangers, First Nations people and farmers, scientists and academics to understand fungi through multiple lenses. In particular, Alison will raise the question of how we might navigate the tensions between ecology and aesthetics in conservation and land restoration. Originally trained as a limnologist, Alison also works as a professional environmental and scientific photographer. Her doctoral thesis, titled A Thousand Days in the Forest, was an ethnography of the culture of fungi.
The Tuesday Discussions are free and open to the public.
