Tuesday Discussion with Nakul Heroor and Huiying Ng (RCC)
02.07.2024 16:30 – 17:45
Location: Rachel Carson Center, fourth floor, Conference Room, Leopoldstr. 11a, 80802 Munich, Germany
This Tuesday, Huiying Ng and Nakul Heroor (RCC) will introduce us to the highlands of northern Thailand through a film project about a village that grows coffee. This film emerges from the anthropological fieldwork that Huiying has carried out in Pang Khon Village, northern Thailand, as part of her doctoral studies. In the Tuesday Discussion, they will look at how a film interacts with research questions as a participatory form of action research and how working with the medium of film sensitizes us to conditions of possibility for agroecology in Southeast Asia. Can “seeing like a coffee-grower” propel alternative ways of understanding smallholders in mainland and maritime Southeast Asia?
The Tuesday Discussions are free and open to the public.
