Green Visions Film Series

22.10.2024 18:30  – 21:00

Location: Einstein 28, Bildungszentrum der MVHS, Einsteinstr. 28, 81675 Munich

Directors: Nick de Pencier, Jennifer Baichwal, Edward Burtynsky, CA 2018, 87 min, German

This visually powerful documentary shows us how we humans are systematically destroying our planet. The three directors have traveled to some twenty countries in over three years, and, as expected, give humanity a bad assessment of the destruction of the blue planet. The film spans the arc from the kilometer-long concrete walls that exist to protect more than half of China's coasts, to the world’s largest excavators in open-cast mining in North Rhine-Westphalia, to evaporation basins in the Atacama Desert, where lithium is extracted: with fantastic shots, some of which seem so surreal that one cannot help but be astonished.

A discussion with Helmuth Trischler (Deutsches Museum / Rachel Carson Center) will follow the screening.

The original version of the film will be shown with German voiceover. The discussion will be held in German.

Free and open to the public.
