Tuesday Discussion with Matthias Drösler (University of Applied Sciences Weihenstephan-Triesdorf)

07.06.2022 16:15  – 17:15

Location: Rachel Carson Center, Conference Room (4th floor), Leopoldstr. 11a, 80802 Munich, Germany

This week’s Tuesday Discussion is with Matthias Drösler, professor of vegetation ecology at the University of Applied Sciences Weihenstephan-Triesdorf in Freising. Matthias Drösler will provide insights into his research on the rewetting and agricultural use of peatlands. In the last two hundred years, Bavaria has lost almost 95 percent of its wetlands. New approaches such as paludiculture practice peatland rewetting to achieve reduced CO2 emissions from drained peatlands as well as continued land use and biomass production. Matthias Drösler will report on the current state of research in this field and present alternative land use options as well as the positive effects of rewetting agricultural land on the climate.

The Tuesday Discussions are free and open to the public.

As of 7 April 2022, the following rule is mandatory during your visit to the RCC:
The obligation to wear a mask (FFP2) while moving through space.
