This week’s Tuesday Discussion is with Prof. Dr. Carol Upadhya, head of the Urban and Mobility Studies Programme at the National Institute of Advanced Studies in Bangalore, India. She will share insights from the collaborative Speculative Urbanism research project, a comparative study of the transformation of Bangalore and Jakarta into “global cities.” The discussion will highlight the environmental and social consequences of the current trajectory of urbanization in Southern megacities as they have been reshaped by international policy prescriptions, real estate interests, transnational finance capital, and land speculation.
The Tuesday Discussions are free and open to the public.
