Erika Bsumek (University of Texas, Austin) will present on "Damming Zion: Mormons, Indians, and the Fight for Resources in the Arid West."

This lunchtime colloquium will examine how arguments over regional development in the American Southwest were rooted in competing religious visions regarding what—or who—was sacred in the territory where Glen Canyon dam would be built. It will also explore the ways that US Indian policy and US water policy were linked.

The Lunchtime Colloquium is free and open to the public.

Snacks are served at 12:00; the lecture starts at 12:30.
