Helen Tiffin on “Philosophies Clash: Conservation versus Animals”

Lunchtime Colloquium

24.04.2014

Location: Katholische Hochschulgemeinde (KHG), Leopoldstr. 11

Helen Tiffin (University of Wollongong, Australia) will present on "Philosophies Clash: Conservation versus Animals." The presentation intends to raise discussion about the continually vexed question of conservation measures versus animal rights issues and the related question of preservation of indigenous species at the expense of other individuals and groups of animals. In so doing, it will draw, briefly, on a couple of Australian examples, including that of a very heated debate presently occurring on the tiny Pacific island on which Helen lives.

The Lunchtime Colloquium is free and open to the public.

Snacks are served at 12:00; the lecture starts at 12:30.
