Can a river have rights just like human beings? The rights of nature is a legal term that allows humans to speak up on behalf of their environment in order to protect it against exploitation. This film takes viewers on a journey that explores the more recent origins of the rights of nature, and its application and implementation in Ecuador, New Zealand, and the United States.
A part of Speak4Nature, an EU-funded project on ecological justice, this English-language film screening of The Rights of Nature: A Global Movement is offered by the Rachel Carson Center, LMU Munich, and the Amerikahaus. The film is co-produced with members of Speak4Nature and it will be contextualized by researchers from the Rachel Carson Center.
This screening will take place in Amerikahaus. Although especially planned for students grades 10 and up, anyone interested is welcome to register for this free film screening.
Prior registration is required. Send an e-mail to bibliothek@amerikahaus.de to reserve your seats.
