On the outskirts of Belgrade lies one of Europe’s largest landfills. Once an archaeological site dating back to the European Neolithic, this toxic place—repeatedly ravaged by fires—has become the workplace of people striving to eke out a living by sifting through the discarded waste, collecting plastic bottles that can be sold as recyclable material. Marked by dystopian imagery, this documentary observes the group’s daily labor, reveals its hierarchies and social contradictions, and finds poetry where one least expects it.

A discussion with director Nemanja Vojinović will follow the screening.

The original version of the film will be shown with English subtitles. The discussion will be held in English.

Free and open to the public. Barrier-free.
