Pitch 101: How to Sell Your Research and Ideas
Environmental Writing Studio Workshop with Hongqiao Liu
15.01.2025 14:00 – 16:00
Location: conference room, fourth floor, RCC
with Landhaus Writer-in-Residence Hongqiao Liu
Pitching is a form of storytelling that communicates and sells a product, project, or idea within limited time or space. Whether it is writing “cold emails” to catch the attention of potential supervisors or collaborators, persuading journalists to report on your newest research findings, or securing opportunities to publish essays or commentaries, pitching is everywhere in academic life.
This workshop breaks down the art of pitching into actionable steps. Participants will explore common pitching scenarios and learn a step-by-step approach to crafting pitches that are clear, concise, and persuasive. At the end of the workshop, participants will come home with a polished pitch tailored for media editors—whether based on their own research or provided materials.
Hongqiao Liu is an independent consultant, researcher, and journalist who advocates across sectors and borders for nuanced analysis and strategic action on China’s role in equitable futures.
This event will have a limit of 15 people. Please email pauline.kargruber@rcc.lmu.de to participate.
