Short and Sweet: Communicating Research to the Wider Public

Environmental Writing Studio Workshop with Hongqiao Liu

13.11.2024 14:00  – 16:00

Location: conference room, fourth floor, RCC

with Landhaus Writer-in-Residence Hongqiao Liu

Academic research holds valuable insights that can spark discussions outside the university setting. In this hands-on workshop, we will practice simplifying academic language, look at nonacademic publishing platforms, and tailor your writing style to engage diverse audiences working in politics, industry, media, and beyond. Your spin-offs might take shape as LinkedIn or X posts, articles for publications like Springs: The Rachel Carson Center Review, op-eds for local media, or collaborative newsletters written with fellow researchers.

To get started, participants are asked to bring two or three story ideas.

Hongqiao Liu is an independent consultant, researcher, and journalist who investigates the social, environmental, and governance challenges arising from China’s emergence as a superpower.

This workshop is limited to 15 participants. To sign up, please email Hongqiao Liu at contact@liuhongqiao.com or Pauline Kargruber at pauline.kargruber@rcc.lmu.de.
