Please mark your calendars for the upcoming Second Annual RCC Tandem Lecture on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 from 7:00-8:30 pm (CET). This public keynote event is co-hosted by the DFG Hazardous Travels research team and sponsored by the Rachel Carson Center for Environment and Society. The invited keynote speakers are Professor Kate Brown from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Antonia Alampi, Director of the Spore Initiative in Berlin who will talk about "How to Live with Toxicity? An Interdisciplinary Conversation."
In this talk between environmental history and curatorial practice, the speakers will be reflecting on their experiences on working with toxicity. As the author of Manual for Survival: A Chernobyl Guide to the Future, Kate Brown will be addressing her experiences with toxicity during her fieldwork, radioactivity, and ecology. Antonia Alampi will be critically reflecting on her curatorial projects, the possibilities and limits of curating, dispersing, and mediating knowledge on toxicity through exhibitions.
