Guest Speaker: Esther Rutter
Join author Esther Rutter to explore writing techniques and develop your research into engaging and creative narratives for nonspecialist audiences. This hands-on, practical workshop is suitable for anyone interested in experimenting with creative methods for sharing research outside your discipline and gaining practical insight into the world of commercial nonfiction publishing and media.
Please bring one small item that relates to your research in some way, and a notebook and pen.

Esther Rutter is a nonfiction writer and UKRI-funded PhD student at the University of Leeds. Her first book, This Golden Fleece (Granta 2019), won a Society of Author’s Roger Deakin Award; her second, All Before Me (Granta 2024), was runner-up in the Lakeland Book of the Year Award’s Wordsworth Prize. She is currently researching twentieth-century women’s art and literature of place in rural Yorkshire, and combines this with freelance work in radio, TV, and print media, including BBC World Service, Women’s Hour, and All in The Mind programs. She currently is a visiting scholar at the RCC.
