COVID-19 Vulnerability Assessment and Community Engagement (2020–2021)

“COVID-19 Vulnerability Assessment and Community Engagement” is a two-year research project funded by the European Union’s HORIZON 2020 research and innovation program. The project aims to identify and process lasting responses to the needs of populations in Munich that are most vulnerable to the COVID-19 pandemic. The team made up of experts from the fields of environmental studies, medical anthropology, and public health is conducting and analyzing interviews in Munich with members of vulnerable communities, with community leaders, and other stakeholders. Its goal is to come to a more thorough understanding of vulnerability and resilience in order to safeguard vulnerable populations from the COVID-19 pandemic and to address future challenges. The project is part of the larger international consortium SoNAR-Global: A Global Social Sciences Network for Infectious Threats and Anti-Microbial Resistance.

Team members include, among others, Prof. Dr. Zeliha Öcek, PD Dr. Martin Saxer, and Prof. Dr. Christof Mauch at the Rachel Carson Center as well as Dr. Michaela Coenen, Vera Klünder, Prof. Dr. Eva Rehfuess at the Pettenkofer School of Public Health, Munich.
