What is the Herrmannsdorfer Landwerkstätten? What is daily life here like?

The Herrmannsdorfer Landwerkstätten is an organic, ecological farm with an integrated approach to producing food. The Landwerkstätten primarily produce pork and chicken, with an emphasis on humane treatment of the animals. Herrmannsdorf was started by Karl Ludwig Schweisfürth in the 1980s. You can read more about his approach to meat production and his inspiration for starting Herrmannsdorf here. In addition, this link describes the various Landwerkstätten at Herrmannsdorf in greater detail; these Landwerkstätten include a butchery, a bakery, a specialty kitchen, a cheese dairy, a brewery, and a coffee roasting plant. There is also an onsite preschool with ca. 25 children.

Herrmannsdorf offers many events for the greater community, including festivals on several weekends a year. The farm is a magnet for locals who want to visit the farm shop, eat in the restaurant or beer garden, attend an event, view sculptures on the premises, or go for a walk. There will be days when many tourists stop by, and other days when the farm is much quieter. The farm employs ca. 100 people.
