Environmental Humanities Workshops

Since 2019, the team has organized and is planning several academic workshops, including Teaching Environmental Humanities at the RCC in 2019 and Environmental Humanities: Perspectives for Research and Teaching at Kloster Seeon in 2022.

In October 2024, there will be an international Young Scholars' Capacity Building Workshop, which will take place at the Tutzinger Academy. The workshop, organized together with the Munich Science Communication Lab, is dedicated to the topic of Planetary Health, Planetary Wellbeing and Planetary Habitability from an Environmental Humanities Perspective. The topic of Planetary Health/Global Health/One Health has so far been mainly dealt with by medical professionals. We are convinced that a critical discussion in the spirit of environmental humanities is important here, among other things, to relativize the discourse that is dominated by the Global North and to critically question the representation of the topic in public.

The project "Strengthening the Environmental Humanities" will conclude with a conference on the Future of Environmental Humanities in Munich in 2026.
