Jens Kersten studied law at the universities of Heidelberg, Leeds, and Bonn. He worked as a postgraduate at Humboldt University Berlin, and was professor of planning and environmental law at Technical University of Dortmund and of public and economic law at the University of Bayreuth. Since 2008 he has held a chair of public law and governance at the LMU Munich. His research focuses on planning and environmental law, bioethics and law, and the legal challenges of demographic change.
