Impressions from the Creative Writing Workshop at the Landhaus

On 14–15 September 2023, the workshop “Creative Writing for the Environmental Humanities” took place at the RCC Landhaus in Herrmannsdorf. Former RCC Researcher in Residence Rowan Deer led the workshop; it was attended by eight PhD students and one postdoctoral researcher. Over the two days, participants thought critically about what it means to write “creatively,” learned how to identify and emulate techniques used by successful writers, and engaged in various exercises designed to invigorate their writing. Taking sunny walks in the surrounding landscape and enjoying communal meals, the group discussed its work during break times.
