Christina Gerhardt’s Book Selected as One of the Best Popular Science Books Out in 2023

17.01.2023

Former Landhaus fellow Christina Gerhardt's book Sea Change: An Atlas of Islands in a Rising Ocean was listed as one of the "Best Science Books of 2023" by the New Scientist.

Christina Gerhardt is an associate professor at the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa and editor-in-chief of ISLE: Interdisciplinary Studies in Literature and the Environment. Completing the book Sea Change: An Atlas of Islands in a Rising Ocean was a part of her RCC research project during her stay at the Center. The book-length study of the effects of climate change on islands contributes both a new geography and a new humanities approach to climate change that grapples with its most pivotal debates about rising sea levels and drowning islands, about climate refugees and repatriation, and about climate change’s effects and solutions to them.
