Student Assistant Digital Archiving (10–20 h/week)

The Rachel Carson Center for Environment and Society (RCC) is looking for a student assistant (studentische Hilfskraft) on a 10–20h/week contract to join its Project Management Team. The position will start on 15 January 2026 or shortly thereafter.

The RCC is an international center dedicated to the study of environment and society from a wealth of disciplines and international perspectives. The RCC features graduate programs (a certificate program and a master’s program in the environmental studies, a structured doctoral program, and an international doctoral program in cooperation with the University of Augsburg). It is home to numerous research projects, funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG), the European Research Council (ERC), the Volkswagen Foundation, the Federal Ministry for Research and Education (BMBF), and others. It also hosts visiting scholars and fellows from across the world.

Responsibilities

  • Archiving online publications and websites;
  • Research and management of visual material;
  • Web design and addressing questions of accessibility;
  • Assisting the website migration to a new content management system (CMS);
  • Correspondence and cooperation with LMU Munich’s IT department.

Qualifications

  • Fluency in German and good written and spoken English;
  • Prior experience in web technology, web development, data management or web design would be advantageous;
  • Strong organizational skills and an eye for detail;
  • Applicants should enjoy working in a team, be able to work independently, and be interested in working with colleagues of diverse cultural backgrounds;
  • Enrolled status (Immatrikulation) at a German university; candidates need to be enrolled as a student at least until September 2026 and must be able to work at the office (Leopoldstraße 11a) two to four days a week (hybrid working is possible).

The position will run until 30 September 2026. Salary will be determined according to LMU compensation for studentische Hilfskräfte.
