Anwesha Borthakur Awarded Humboldt Research Fellowship

20.03.2023

Former Marie Skłodowska Curie postdoctoral fellow and RCC affiliated researcher Anwesha Borthakur has recently been awarded a Humboldt Research Fellowship for Experienced Researchers for her project titled “Textile Waste in Emerging Economies: Management and Governance Towards a Circular System.”

For this project, she will analyze the design of waste policies in India and South Africa and evaluate why the local traits that are centered around reuse and recycling are absent from the countries' policymaking. The project aims to assess why India and South Africa are yet to capitalize the local waste management approaches that would align with a circular economy system. During her Humboldt fellowship, she will also expand the analytical and empirical scope of her existing research, which is based on her experience of working on electronic waste (e-waste) governance for the past twelve years, to include textile waste.

Anwesha will join us first as a Landhaus fellow from July 2023. This stay will then be followed by her Humboldt fellowship at the RCC.

The RCC would like to warmly congratulate Anwesha on this great success and we are looking forward to welcoming her back in Munich!
