Lars Kreye to Receive Boehringer Ingelheim Preis für Geisteswissenschaften

Dr. Lars Kreye received the first pize of the Boehringer Ingelheim Preis für Geisteswissenschaften for his dissertation, titled »Deutscher Wald« in Afrika: Koloniale Konflikte um regenerative Ressourcen, Tansania 1892–1916. The work was published in 2021 as part of the Umwelt und Gesellschaft series by Vandenhoeck & Ruprecht, which is edited by Christof Mauch and Helmuth Trischler.

»Deutscher Wald« in Afrika explores discourses and practices of colonial forest conflicts in Tanzania and foregrounds their importance for tropical forest protection and climate change.

The Boehringer Ingelheim Preis für Geisteswissenschaften launched in 2022 and gives special recognition to exceptional works in the humanities. It is awarded every two years by the Geschwister Boehringer Ingelheim Stiftung für Geisteswissenschaften in Mainz, Germany.
