New Book by Alumnus Dan Lewis

Belonging on an Island: Birds, Extinction, and Evolution in Hawai‘i

27.02.2018

Dan Lewis’s natural history of Hawaiian birds, Belonging on an Island (Yale University Press), takes an in-depth look at the history, evolution, and survival of Hawaii’s avian inhabitants. He introduces the important work of conservationists, environmentalists, and naturalists of the region, and also provides insightful and original explorations into what it means to be native—to belong. He redefines these concepts and applies them not just to birds, but to people as well. Dan worked on his book during his time as a fellow at the RCC.
