11.12.2018

At the recent workshop “Maschinenlandschaften” (Machine Landscapes)” held at the University of Stuttgart, Fabian Zimmer of the RCC’s Doctoral Program Environment and Society presented on “Hydroelektrische Projektionen” (Hydroelectric Projections). In his talk, he explored projections and responses to hydroelectric power plants in 1950s media. By analyzing videos, photographs, advertisements, and other media from the period, he examines the symbolic and political power of hydroelectric plants as progressive and destructive interventions in the landscape.

During the workshop, Fabian was interviewed by Deutschlandfunk (a German public radio broadcaster) for a short Podcast about machine landscapes, which you can listen to here (in German).
