Alumnus Tom Griffiths Wins Book Award

Ernest Scott Prize for "The Art of Time Travel: Historians and Their Craft"

18.04.2017

Tom Griffiths has won the 2017 Ernest Scott Prize for his book The Art of Time Travel: Historians and Their Craft.

The Ernest Scott Prize for History is awarded annually to the book judged to be the most distinguished contribution to the history of Australia or New Zealand or to the history of colonization, published in the previous year.

Through portraits of fourteen historians, the book traces how a body of work is formed from a life-long dialogue between past evidence and present experience. Praised for its "sharp insights" and "mesmerizing prose," The Art of Time Travel shows how our understanding of the past has evolved and what this changing history reveals about us.
