Filipa Soares to begin PhD Project at Oxford University

14.04.2014

The RCC congratulates Filipa Soares, who will begin a DPhil in Geography and the Environment at the University of Oxford from October 2014.

Her research project will focus on the socio-cultural and geopolitical dimensions of European rewilding, taking as a case study the Rewilding Europe initiative. It will be funded by two scholarships: one from the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and the other from the Foundation for Science and Technology (FST), an initiative of the Portugese government.

Filipa worked as an intern at the RCC and has subsequently been involved in the translation of several volumes of RCC Perspectives into Portugese. The Portugese versions of New Environmental Histories of Latin America and the Caribbean and The Edges of Environmental History: Honouring Jane Carruthers will appear in 2014.
