Verena Winiwarter Nominated for "Austrian of the Year"

RCC Advisory Board Member Nominated in "Research" Category

Verena Winiwarter - an RCC Advisory Board member, a founder of ICEHO, and an eminent environmental historian - is one of six nominees for the title of “Austrian of the Year 2013” in the category ‘’Research”. Verena is a prolific researcher, an excellent teacher, a productive writer and an extraordinarily enthusiastic academic. This is the first time that an Environmental Historian has been nominated for this accolade. Verena  is the Professor of Environmental History at  Alpen-Adria-Universität, Klagenfurt. She has wide environmental history research interests, including agrarian society, river systems, and the theory and methodology of environmental history. She organised the first World Congress of Environmental History in Copenhagen and is heavily involved in the second, which takes place in Guimaraes, Portugal, in July 2014.
