Claudia Leal Travels to Brazil

Presents Her Work at Two Conferences

Carson Fellow Claudia Leal recently traveled to Brazil to give a talk at 'Seminario internacional ‘Histórias do Pós-Abolição no Mundo Atlântico,' at the Universidade Federal Fluminense, Niterói in Rio de Janeiro. Her paper was entitled 'Jungles and Libres: Labor, Ideology, and Meanings of Freedom in the Black Region of Colombia, 1850-1930.' She also presented her work at the Laboratorio de Historia Ambiental of the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, which is coordinated by Lise Sedrez and Jose Augusto Padua.
