Philippe Forêt (University of Chicago PhD) is a geographer who has worked in America, Europe, and Asia. In Basel, Philippe leads with Max Bergman, Zinette Bergman, and Basil Bornemann the program on social transitions research. In Zurich, he manages with Marc Hall and Christoph Kueffer the multi-campus program in the environmental humanities of the Swiss Academic Society for Environmental Research and Ecology. Published in four languages, Philippe’s agenda on climate research in arid areas and on the mobility of knowledge across Eurasia has received awards from eleven different countries. The Institutes for Advanced Study of Uppsala, Nantes, and Bristol have elected Philippe Fellow, and he has been a member of the Society of Fellows of the RCC since 2017.
