"No Impact Man – Leben ohne Fußabdruck"

Film Screening and Discussion

13.10.2010

Conference Report – English (pdf, 134 KB)

Location: Amerikahaus, Karolinenplatz 3, Munich

Conveners: Alexa Weik von Mossner (RCC) and Ulrike Wagner (Ökologisches Bildungszentrum München)

The RCC and the Ökologisches Bildungszentrum (ÖBZ/MVHS) joined forces for an event within the framework of the Munich “Klimaherbst” initiative which features the American documentary No Impact Man (all screenings in English).

No Impact Man tells the story of the Beavans who—in the middle of Manhattan—try to abandon their high consumption lifestyle in an attempt to make a no-net environmental impact for the course of one year. Unsurprisingly, the project is not without its challenges for the “no impact man,” his shopaholic wife, and their 2-year old daughter.

The evening screening was followed by a panel discussion (in German) about the film and opportunities for greener lifestyles within urban and rural environments. From 14:00 to 22:00 visitors also had the opportunity to inform themselves about how they can reduce their own ecological footprint.
