Roundtable Discussion with Agricultural Experts

LMU Fellow Frank Uekoetter and Research Assistant Sarah Waltenberger participated in a roundtable discussion with a number of agrochemists at the Institute of Agriculture (Thüringer Landesanstalt für Landwirtschaft) in Jena. Inspired by the provocative interpretation that Uekoetter had offered in his book Die Wahrheit ist auf dem Feld, the participants shared views on the past and present of agriculture, fertilizer use, and the merits of agricultural history. Both sides agreed that agrochemists and historians can learn a lot from each other, and that a continuation of open debates will be in the mutual interest.
